Stepping Out in Faith

Sometimes you just have to have faith that God will help you when he gives you a nudge to do his will.

A Parent’s Prayer Answered July 30, 2013

What a joy to see my baby girl all grown up and getting ready to walk down the aisle to become one with the man of her dreams! Watching the two of them grow up over the past 6
years I’ve seen how good they are for each other. Knowing that they are so perfect for each other gives me peace. But even more imporatantly, I have seen how they have put God first in their relationship. It makes me so proud in this day and age to know how commited they are to making that pledge, because I know the God is going to bless this marriege more than we can even imagine!

Ever since she was little, I’ve been praying that God would bring a man into her life that would make a good Christian home for her and my grandchildren and this prayer has been answered in a big way! He’s great with children and as the worship director at our church at the age of 20, he’s taken on huge responsibility at such a young age and done a fabulous job! I have no doubt that he will be a loving and supportive husband and a gentle, but firm father.

My daughter has graduated from college and works with teenaged girls who suffer from eating disorders. She has such a caring and giving heart that I know the girls will benefit from the love of God that she shares with them. It’s been her dream to be able to show others how much God loves them. As a parent, it’s one of our goals to see our children succeed in the world and I know that they are definitely getting off to a great start!

Daily Prompt: All About Me February 13, 2013

Explain why you chose your blog’s title and what it means to you. This is my response to yesterday’s prompt:

When I first started blogging, it was in response to our church’s need for someone to take over the website. I contemplated this for several weeks before offering to rise to this challenge. I had never run a website before and I had a lot to learn, but nobody else was coming forward to take the job.

After much prayerful consideration, I felt that I was being called by God to “Step Out in Faith”. I knew that God would provide the skills I needed to complete the task at hand. The blog was a result of my feeling of God’s tug to have faith in him. I felt that this was something I needed to share with others to challenge them to step out in faith also.

Did You Pray Today? December 4, 2012

Don’t start your day without prayer! Jeremiah 29:11-14 says, “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart. I will be found by you,” declares the Lord, “and will bring you back from captivity. I will gather you from all the nations and places where I ¬†have banished you,” declares the Lord, “and will bring you back to the place from which I carried you into exile.”

God tells us that he has plans for us! Each one of us are important enough that he actually has plans for us that will make us succeed, but how will we know what those plans are if we don’t talk to him and listen to what he’s telling us in return? It only makes sense to start our day by talking to our Lord.

Life Without Limbs, Nick Vujicic November 19, 2012

Nick Vujicic, Life Without LimbsNick Vujicic, the president and CEO of Life Without Limbs, spoke at the Anderson University Chapel on October 18, 2012. He is one of the most motivating speakers I believe I have ever heard. Nick has overcome many obstacles in his life. You see, he doesn’t have any arms or legs. It would be easy to have a negative outlook on life. Nick came into the world with this handicap. He could blame God and feel sorry for himself, but he chooses not to live his life that way.¬†Watch the video of Nick’s presentation and see what you think. Share your thoughts below.

I love my family very much, but I think we all need a little time away to clear our heads and get refreshed. The best way I have found to do that is to attend the Women of Faith annual conference with my sisters in Christ. It is a great weekend to socialize with other women and be lifted up by the talented entertainers and speakers at this event. In the 3 years that I’ve been able to attend, Stephen Curtis Chapman, Natalie Grant, Sandy Patti, Amy Grant, Selah, and Mandisa have performed on stage. It’s like going too a Christian concert! Plus, we get to listen to some of the best speakers share their faith stories. We laugh at comedians sharing the faith through humor and then we cry at some of the trials and tribulations shared with us.

When I come back home after WOF, I am filled with the love of God and my faith has been strengthened. Check out the schedule and see when there is an event near you. Get your tickets in advance and put it on your calendar. Don’t let this opportunity pass you by.

Operation Christmas Child October 19, 2012

I attend the Church of Christ at Milan, in Indiana. For the second year, we are participating in the Operation Christmas Child ministry sponsored by Samaritan’s Purse. Last year, as a church family, we donated 47 filled shoe boxes! The shoe boxes are filled with everyday items that are very much appreciated by the children in countries all over the world who receive them. This year our goal is to fill 100 shoe boxes for this outreach. Collection week will be November 12-19, 2012. If you are interested in learning more about this ministry, check out the website for a list of suggestions for items to include and how to pack the boxes: http://www.samaritanspurse.org/index.php/OCC/ . Please be in prayer for the success of this project. If you live in the Milan, Indiana area and would like to participate you may contact the church office at 812-654-2177 or our website at www.milanchurch.com . If you live far from us, there is a link on the OCC website that will help you find a drop off site near you! Let’s all get involved and see how God touches this outreach project!

Father Christiaan Kappes Makes It To Safety! October 8, 2012

Father Christiaan Kappes and his translator Ioanna Lakakou have made it safely out of Greece. Father Christiaan Kappes has contacted his family and will be returning to the US in the next few days. What relief flooded over me as I read the most recent post on his sister, Nadia’s, Facebook page! Fr. Kappes last spoke to his family on Oct. 1st. There will be more news forthcoming later today. Many thanks to all of the people who have been praying for this whole situation!
