I’ve been thinking about Father’s Day coming up and how much I miss my dad. It makes me sad when I think of things we’ve missed doing together through the years. He’s been gone now for 11 years. But then I think how lucky I was to call him “Dad”. He was always there for me no matter what. He was a great father and was always loyal to his family. Education was important to him and he made it clear that he expected the best I could do. At the time it seemed like my best was never good enough, but looking back on it, I know he just wanted the best for me. He was a great role model and I think he would approve of the person I’ve become. I hope that I have been half as good a parent to my girls as he was to my siblings and I.
If your dad is still living, don’t forget to take the time this Father’s Day to let him know how much you appreciate and love him. If you aren’t on good terms with him, now would be a great time to bury the hatchet and make an effort to make amends. Happy Fathers’ Day!
