Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted. Matthew 5:4 NIV
With all the destruction and devestation of this past weekend, my prayers go out to those who lost loved ones or their homes. In times like this it’s easy to ask, “Why does God let things like this happen?” Sometimes, it takes a catastrophe to bring out the best in people. It’s hard for us to even come close to understanding God’s plan. The loss of the families that are suffering is real. I can’t begin to feel what they are feeling in their sadness. I do know that God will be there for them to help them through these tough times if they will ask for his comfort. Some tend to blame God, but that’s not the answer.
If you know someone who has suffered during the tornadoes in the midwest or any other time similar to this, don’t forget to give them your love, support, and encouragement. It’s important that we turn toward God, not away from him in our sorrow. No one loves us more than our Father. Pray to Him for comfort and you will receive it.
